Forgive for Life™ Book

Jacki's first book on forgiveness is around the corner!

This book offers a fresh compass definition, an achievable “umbrella” framework, and the inspiration of companions on your journey. With these new resources, you can successfully choose the path on which the gift of forgiveness emerges.

At the core is a fresh definition of forgiveness that both focuses and broadens the meaning of this very human journey. It will point the way forward without any platitudes or simplistic formulas.

Jacki has provided reflections drawn from her personal experience and more than a decade of teaching and coaching about forgiveness. Organized in brief readings ideal for daily reflection, Forgive for Life will make a lasting difference for your life.

God,
grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
- "The Serenity Prayer" (adapted from Reinhold Niebuhr)

The things I cannot change?
The past.
Other people.

The things I can change?
The present.
The future.

Myself.

In the work of forgiving, I am sorting this out. Whenever I wrestle with the reality of wounds, and dare to speak tenderly and truthfully of them, I am honoring the impact of what has happened. Whenever I fix my gaze upon my Now, and see clearly where I am and what I want, I am honoring what could be. I don't need to know exactly how to get there, but I can trust there is sufficient grace and guidance to get there. To make room for these, I must learn the art of letting go. And, like any art, it takes practice.

Seed: Forgiveness is the release of all hope for a better past. -Author Unknown

Affirmation: Today, I remember that I am not alone on this spiritual quest. I am thankful for the work of forgiveness, for it is the practice of honoring the truth of the past and the gift of power in the present.
